  • Precision Ballscrew Threads: Rolled versus Ground

May 25, 2011· There are two main differences in the manufacturing processes of rolled and ground screws: 1. Rolled screws are produced by forcing round bar stock through rotating dies to form the thread. The long rolled bars are then cut to length and heattreated. Cutting them to length before rolling would cause inaccuracies near the ends.

Cut Thread vs. Rolled Thread? Many product designers or engineers dont go to this level of detail when sending specs for their fastener or threaded part. Instead, the decision is left to the machine shop to make the recommendation if the shops on the RFQ list even have the capability for rolling. Is it necessary to specify the machining

  • Rolling Threads Has Advantages : Modern Machine Shop

Sep 15, 2003· Rolling Threads Has Advantages. When a thread is rolled, the thread shape is imparted on the workpiece blank by moving the parent material. A key parameter of this movement is the depth or root of the thread. As the roller displaces the material that will become the root, it flows out of the root both radially and axially.

  • Thread Milling vs. Tapping: Advantages & Disadvantages

Jun 26, 2014· The primary advantage of thread milling is the ability to control the fit. A threaded hole is milled at a high RPM and the tool helixes into a previouslymilled hole. So, the machine operator has the ability to adjust thread size using a strategy similar to using an end mill, rather than a

Mar 01, 2014· I was using a Karsten TR Zing and an Anser 6 milled. The Karsten felt more muted, the milled a little more clicky, which I like. Appearance wise, I could see the grooves on the face of the Karsten at set up, and I didn't care for the bronze finish. The bumpers on the back seemed "big", kind of bulky. Not as refined as the milled series.
